Why Choose Adult Partial Hospitalization at Vanderbilt
- Team approach
Our treatment team includes psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, nurses and mental health specialists. More caregivers means a better perspective on each patients' illnesses and treatment plans. Our board-certified psychiatrists see patients on the day of admission and twice a week afterward. Doctors are available each day to manage medications and other medical needs. Patients benefit from the combined resources and experience of both Vanderbilt Psychiatric Hospital and Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
- Group-based treatment
Our patients take part in several groups. Life skills groups help patients learn to manage mental health concerns. Therapeutic groups encourage giving and receiving feedback. Process groups allow patients to talk about their illnesses or conditions in a safe, therapeutic setting. Activity-based and nursing groups help with such needs as sleep hygiene, stress management and exercise. Other activities and meals always happen together.
- Family involvement
Behavioral health issues can affect the whole family, so we invite family members to work closely with our treatment team. Each patient meets with their family twice during the program. When the patient is ready to leave, we work with you to set up aftercare services.
- Excellent outcomes
Our patients' anxiety and depression symptoms decline, on average, about 40%. Our readmission rate is less than 5%, and our patient satisfaction rating is about 95%.
- Advanced care
As part of an academic medical center, we are leaders in caring for the most complex conditions. Our commitment to research means that you receive the most current, advanced treatment available.
