Adult Behavioral Health Programs

Our adult inpatient programs offer both individual and group therapy for patients who are suffering from mental health issues. Every new patient receives a comprehensive assessment from a trained social worker, as well as a medical interview with a physician. We work closely with your primary care doctors, staff pharmacists and other medical experts to ensure your needs are being met and coordinate any advanced care you may need.

Our adult partial hospitalization services bridge the gap between full inpatient care and weekly therapy sessions. Our programs provide comprehensive care while allowing patients to stay in their homes and workplaces while they attend the daily program. We use both individual and group sessions to help our patients reach a healthier lifestyle. This program is led by a licensed clinical social worker and a registered nurse.

Our adult outpatient programs offer care to individuals and families who need help dealing with psychotic disorders, life transitions, abuse, depression, substance abuse and other mental health concerns. We also provide services to help patients adjust after leaving the hospital. 

Our intensive outpatient programs offer a full range of services to patients who can’t commit to a hospital stay. We are the only program in the region to offer intensive outpatient services for young adults (ages 18 - 26). Our intensive outpatient program for co-occurring disorders is designed specifically for adults with mental health and substance abuse concerns.

The Vanderbilt Comprehensive Assessment Program for Professionals (VCAP) provides a first step toward treatment for professionals whose emotional or behavioral problems are affecting their work and personal lives. Upon referral, our VCAP team evaluates an individual's job-related concerns such as addiction, career burnout, disruptive conduct and stress, providing them with a comprehensive treatment plan.

The Vanderbilt Center for Integrative Health pioneered the use of evidence-based therapies in Middle Tennessee. Services include mind/body counseling, group therapy, healing movement therapy, yoga and mindfulness-based stress reduction.
