Mood Disorders: Why Choose Vanderbilt
- Advanced care
Our program is part of a world-class academic medical institution. This means our patients have access to Vanderbilt’s wealth of medical health services. We also accept more medically complicated patients than most other services. We have helped patients who have not responded to previous treatments return to normal life settings.
- Group-based therapy
Our patients pursue wellness in groups, learning good problem-solving and goal-setting skills and healthy ways to communicate. Psychoeducation groups help patients manage symptoms through skill building and coping techniques. Activity groups help patients express themselves creatively.
- Medication management
Our nurses discuss medication benefits and side effects with patients to help them understand and follow drug regimens.
- Skilled clinicians
Our team features a high number of nurses with bachelor's degrees and nurses certified in their fields of care. We have presented about our care offerings to national organizations. Vanderbilt nursing received its fourth Magnet designation, a key indicator of quality of nursing, in 2022.
