Group Medical Visits

Overview

Group medical visits are a cornerstone of our integrative health approach at Osher. In these interactive sessions, patients receive care alongside others sharing similar experiences and health goals. Our team of health care professional includes integrative nurse practitioners, physicians, yoga therapists, culinary experts and mindfulness instructors. This interdisciplinary team works together to provide valuable insights and guidance tailored to each medical group's needs. Additionally, patients gain inspiration and support by sharing experiences with peers and creating a collaborative environment for holistic learning and healing.

  • Shared experiences and support: Find encouragement and learn from others on similar paths.
  • Enhanced learning and understanding: Receive valuable insights from health care professionals and peers.
  • Active participation in your care: Ask questions, share concerns and become a partner in your health journey.

Living Well with Chronic Pain
Designed for individuals who suffer with chronic pain due to conditions such as fibromyalgia, osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, peripheral neuropathy or the residual, long-term effects of injury or trauma. In class you will begin to develop skills that may help ease your pain and overtime cultivate ease and stability in body, breath and mind. You will also be provided with tools that may help decrease your anxiety and assist you in coping with your medical conditions and life stressors. These tools will be adapted to your individual needs to guide you on your healing journey.

Empowered Relief
This is an evidence-based single-session pain class that rapidly equips patients with pain management skills. This class includes experiential exercises and creates a personal plan for pain relief. Family may attend with you.

Basics of Breathing
This 4-week class provides an introduction to patients on the power of breath to optimize health. Discover how to harness your breath to calm the mind, revitalize the body and reflect on your health. Each class will build progressively to teach practical skills on how to incorporate a regular breathing practice into your life. Suitable for all levels of experience, breathing techniques will be modified to accommodate all patients. Patients will be asked to practice breathing regularly during the 4-week period.

Mindfulness Skills
Mindfulness Skills class is a basic training of mindfulness skills for those new to mindfulness or for those wanting to deepen their practice and learn more about themselves. Participants will learn fundamental skills of mindfulness, try out a variety of mindfulness practices and discover habits and thoughts that keep them stuck in negative and unhealthy life patterns.

Mindful Self-Compassion
This class combines the skills of both mindfulness and self-compassion. Mindfulness will begin the journey of emotional healing by helping us to turn toward and acknowledge when we have a difficult thought, feeling or sensation with a sense of openness and curiosity. Self-compassion will then help us in responding to those difficulties with kindness, sympathy and understanding. We will learn to soothe and comfort ourselves during moments of pain and suffering.
