Multiple Sclerosis and Neuroimmunology

Our doctors have spent years working with patients who have multiple sclerosis (MS) and similar central nervous system disorders. And they’ve also been actively involved in research that’s looking for new and better ways to treat these conditions. They, along with our nurses, specialty pharmacists and other staff members, are committed to helping you manage your symptoms.

The Multiple Sclerosis Center at Vanderbilt is one of the largest in the southeastern U.S., treating approximately 5,000 patients each year.

Women diagnosed with MS have unique needs before, during and after pregnancy. Our team includes specially trained experts that serve as an educational resource to help navigate your pregnancy journey, understand how to best manage your symptoms and manage medications during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Our doctors work closely with experts in other medical disciplines to create a care plan that meets your individual needs. We also work with your primary care doctor to review your records and coordinate any advanced care you may need.

While there are common symptoms MS patients share, the disease shows up differently in each patient. We tailor your treatment plan to meet your unique needs and health goals and help you navigate your treatment options to ensure that you receive the best possible care. We also offer a specialty pharmacy service, which encompasses consultation and support in navigating the insurance process.

Our clinic has been recognized by the National Multiple Sclerosis Society as a Center for Comprehensive Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Care. This designation is a reflection of our extensive approach to care and research, and that means that you’ll have access to and receive the full range of treatments and services you need. Additionally, we offer the latest treatments, and our specialists are constantly working to get new medications approved. 

We’re involved in research sponsored by the National Multiple Sclerosis Society that’s looking at MS differently. The goal is to see more about the condition so that we can do more for our patients. Talk with any of our doctors about your interest in cutting-edge research on imaging in MS and whether there is an MRI study that might be right for you.

Telehealth appointments are available. In many cases, it may be best to see a new patient with in-person visits. Telehealth appointments often work best for follow-up care.
