The doc came in after I was waiting around 45 minutes, even though I was an earlier morning appointment. He came in and almost immediately started removing my splints. He didn't explain what he was doing or how it might feel. The scissors weren't sharp enough and so he pulled on the first splint without the suture being fully cut loose and the jerk of the splint was painful and brought tears to my eyes. When the second one was removed, I gushed blood down my lip and chin and into my hands, but he didn't seem to react. And then immediately he switched over to suctioning without an explanation of how it might feel or how deep he would go. At one point, I caught myself holding my breath as my eyes filled with tears again. It was very aggressive, in my opinion. And then once done, he quickly said to continue rinsing with saline, using my flonase, and an antihistamine. And then he was out the door. I'm sure he probably asked if I had any questions, but I was trying to hold tissues to my nose and rinse the blood off my fingers. I've had a couple of appts with Dr. Russell and I like him, but this wasn't the best visit with him. I can't say right now if I would recommend him to others.
