The provider didn't show any care of my concern and she was like she didn't want to hear my questions or she didn't have answers to my questions about my concerns.

I really liked Aubrey Marion Austin - she was calm, kind and shared important research and information. She was well prepared to help someone my age and with my issues. I trust her and I am thankful to have this new medical support working with her. I will highly recommend her to friends and others.

The care provider delivered a silver nitrate treatment to my cervix during my routine pap smear. However, she did not fully explain the procedure ahead of time or its potential side effects. She told me that this is a chemical that can help the cervix heal. At the time she mentioned it, I was in the middle of my exam (e.g., on the pelvic exam table), and I felt unsure and confused. In any case, I consented to the treatment. However, when I was reading about this treatment after my visit, I was surprised to learn about additional considerations and side effects that may have impacted my decision making. For example, I did not know that the chemical was a cauterizing agent or that I should avoid tampons and sex after the treatment. These details seem important, so I am confused as to why this Information was not shared with me as a part of the informed consent process or the instructions for post-treatment care. This was my first visit to the Vanderbilt's Women Health Center, and unfortunately I am now reconsidering my options.

I was very impressed with Dr. Austin. I expected some pain ahead of time, but there was NO pain during the exam.
