The Kidney/Pancreas Transplant Program at Vanderbilt

Vanderbilt's Kidney Transplant Program is one of the largest and oldest in the US. Since its inception in 1962, over 3,500 transplants have been performed at the combined Vanderbilt Medical Center-Nashville VA Kidney/Pancreas Transplant Center. The Vanderbilt -VA Kidney/Pancreas programs are Medicare-designated programs. Kidney transplantation is offered as one of the treatment options for end-stage renal disease. Key components of the program include aggressive patient education, increased use of outpatient treatment regimens, decreased rejection rates and an increase in the number of living donor transplants performed. Vanderbilt provides transplant services for adult and pediatric patients.
