Julia P. Dunn, M.D.
Dr. Julia Dunn is faculty in Vanderbilt’s Division of Diabetes, Endocrinology and Metabolism. Her clinical interests include obesity medicine, type 2 diabetes mellitus, medical weight loss especially in patients with diabetes mellitus, and general endocrinology. She received her M.D. from University of South Alabama in 2002. She completed her Internal Medicine training at University of Alabama Hospital in Birmingham. In 2005 she came to Vanderbilt Medical Center where she completed a clinical and research fellowship in the Division of Diabetes, Endocrinology and Metabolism. She is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in Internal Medicine and Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism. Her research interests include brain function in obesity especially dopaminergic signaling and changes in brain function after gastric bypass and weight loss. Further she has completed research in insulin action and gestational diabetes. She has presented research at national meetings including American Diabetes Association and Endocrine Society.
Publications
Dr. Dunn has published in various areas of clinical diabetes including management of type 2 diabetes mellitus after weight loss surgery.
