More About Calories and Your Metabolism

The body actually burns calories digesting food, especially in the first hour after food is eaten. Protein generally requires 25% more energy to digest. Therefore, a snack containing protein would be more effective at boosting metabolism than just a carbohydrate snack. Small, but frequent, meals help keep your metabolism in high gear, and that means you'll burn more calories overall. Eating something every 3-4 hours keeps the metabolism fires burning!
